How To Build Your Website For Free

It seems that everyone has a website today, but where do you start if you need a website but lack funds or experience?

Building a website need not be complicated or expensive, here I give an overview of two ways to build a simple website for free.

Blogs. The easiest way to get a website is to get a blog. Wordpress and Blogger are two good examples. All you need is to set up an account using your email and a password, choose a template and off you go. Blogger can also link easily to adwords. A google application that puts up adverts for things relevant to your content. This way you have a revenue stream with very little effort.

The down side of a blog is that presentation can be limited to a single page of entries, you have to keep posting for relevance and posts will get archived so people may need to dig around your blog to find specific articles. The upside is that it is completely free.

Advert funded hosting sites. Alternatively type in "free websites" into your search engine and you will find lots of providers offering hosting, web templates and all sorts of website gubbins free of charge. How can it be free? You build your website and they put adverts onto it to generate revenue to pay for your site.

These are a great way to get a multiple page website. They take a bit longer to set up, but most will have wizards and templates that you can just type content into. The down side is that any advert revenue will go to the provider and not you.

That said, they are a great way to set up a page to experiment with and then go on to pay for hosting later.

So it really is easy to build your own website for free, decide what style you want, find a provider, set up an account and off you go. Even if you don't like it, it was free so you can always try something else!
