Most of the time a visitor will leave your website because you have not offered them what they were looking for based on their search. Other times these visitors leave because they just did not have time to read through your website. They bookmark your site and come back a later time. I am a big user of the bookmark. I will do a search and always bookmark to come back at a later time.
At the moment lets say that the visitor was disappointed because the product they wanted was just a little too expensive. They made the quick decision to not pay for the product because the price did not meet their expectations. In olden times, the visitor would leave and not come back. The seller had no recourse on booming back that patron.
To fix this issue, software developers started to come up with interesting ways to keep the purchaser on the sellers website. They did this with a exceptionally different piece of software. This software would recognize when a shopper closed the internet window. It did not matter if the consumer closed the window through clicking on the X in the upper right corner or if they closed the window through the file drop down menu. The software would recognize any closure of the window and throw a pop up with a very straightforward note.
That note gave the seller one more chance to sell to the consumer. Most sellers use this opportunity to sell to the client at the lowest price, while other used the chance to distribute a free report.
Sellers who use the foremost chance to sell to the patron at a lower price, are sellers that are banking that the customer did not buy the product because it was too expensive. By offering them a lower price, they feel that the purchaser would then purchase and become a valued purchaser.
Those sellers that used the second chance to give away a free report they are banking on the fact that the client did not like the product. They feel that grabbing the customers information by enticing them to sign up for a free report, will give them the chance to sell them something different through a newsletter or email. Both strategies work, but it does depend on the market and what you are selling
In olden times I have seen many of these internet experts using exit strategy. The Internet gurus claim they can convert up to 80% of all customers that leave their website. It works because the buyer has already been sold by the great squeeze page, but the price was just a little too much. When they are presented with the lower price, they can’t resist at least trying the product to see if it does what it claims.
No matter how you explore it this kind of strategy is working and will work for you. Even if you convert just 20% of your customers that leave your website, that is still money and a valued patron that would have never returned.
